The Room

The theme for Harvey's room started off as black and white with pops of colour and quirkiness. The main challenge I came across was that in this country there are not a lot of suppliers that do the minimalistic look.(and that don't cost a fortune) when it comes to baby rooms. You will however find a lot of the typical blue for boys and pink for girls...this drove me nuts! So it took a lot of searching to find pieces that fit in with the theme we were going for.

I came across a company called Kids Living, located in Green Point that have amazing products and imported affordable pieces from Ikea. Which is where we managed to pick up his crib, changing table, toy basket and stool for next to the rocking chair.

Cuan is a big Star Wars fan, so we thought that adding a few Star Wars themed pieces to the room would add that dash of quirkiness we were looking for. The Hand knitted octopus (now named Larry) keeps things homey. I will be writing a post about him soon. Thanks to family based in the UK we were also able to source unique pieces like the sheepskin rug (Ikea) and pine tree blanket (Fine Little Day

I made the mobile myself, it was super easy to put together. You can find the template here
Keeping the colours for the most part bright and fresh, we get a lot of natural light into the room which is fantastic. Living in a flat we did not have a lot of space to work with but I think we managed to create a space thats functional and hey...not too bad on the eye either.
